Where it all began. 

Long before EST8 existed, our tea was already growing in the hills of Upper Assam. Decades of cultivation, care, and craftsmanship laid the foundation for everything that followed

We stopped outsourcing trust

By taking direct ownership of the estate, we removed the distance between grower and cup. Every leaf could now be cared for, handled, and traced back to its source.

Second Flush is the harvest, the season and the conditions behind the fuller, richer character of the Assam tea you’re drinking. 


A flush refers to a harvest period for tea. Second flush refers to the second major harvest period of the tea-growing season. In Assam, it follows the first rains and takes place as the gardens move into the warmer, wetter months of the year.

This period is particularly important because the combination of strong summer heat, increased rainfall and the growing conditions of the estate influences how the tea develops. The leaves harvested during this period are known for producing a richer, fuller-bodied cup, deeper colour and the characteristic malty character associated with Assam tea. 

For EST8, second flush is more than a seasonal descriptor. It is part of understanding where and when the tea was grown. The same estate can produce tea with different characteristics across different harvest periods, because the conditions surrounding the leaf change through the season.

Estate-Direct

Estate-direct means the tea comes directly from the estate that grows and processes it, without passing through anonymous suppliers, auctions or third-party aggregators. 

For us, estate-direct begins with ownership. We own the estates where our tea is grown, rather than sourcing from a network of external suppliers. This means we have direct visibility into the garden, the harvest and the processing of the tea.

The tea is processed on-estate within 24 hours of plucking, keeping the journey from leaf to finished tea close to its source. The estate is not simply where our tea comes from, it is the starting point of its identity.

Estate-direct is what allows us to make a clearer promise about our tea: we know where it was grown, when it was harvested and how it was processed.

Single-Origin

Single origin means the tea can be traced back to a defined geographical source, rather than being blended from leaves of multiple origins. 

Tea can vary depending on where it is grown. Soil, climate, harvest season and processing conditions all influence the character of the finished cup. When tea comes from a single origin, those characteristics remain connected to a specific source rather than being blended across different gardens.

EST8 teas are sourced from our own estates in Upper Assam, with the estate and harvest information made visible as part of each batch. This gives the tea a defined point of origin, rather than an anonymous regional identity.

Knowing the origin gives you more context for what you are tasting. It helps connect the character of the tea back to the place and conditions that shaped it.
